At LootBox, 250+ cases are waiting to be cracked open, and they’re filled to the brim with Bentleys, iPhones, rare Jordans, designer bags, and more. Unfortunately, the free play is a little limited at LootBox. This mystery box site is best suited for big spenders who are willing to grind the weekly tournament and VIP program and don’t mind dropping thousands every month.

1. Where You Can Use LootBox

LootBox doesn’t explicitly say which states and countries it doesn’t accept, but you must be at least 18+ to play. In fact, when you register, you just enter your email, and the site isn’t geo-blocked. Mystery box platforms like LootBox are legal across the United States with the exception of Idaho and Washington.

The site reserves the right to perform KYC on all users, and you’ll need to complete verification if you want access to free cases. So I recommend reaching out to customer support and confirming LootBox is available in your jurisdiction before you open your wallet.

2. How LootBox Works

LootBox is a Cyprus-based mystery box platform operated by LOOTBOX LTD and was established in 2024.

How it works is you pay to open boxes, which contain all kinds of different prizes like iPhones, Jordans, and even some crazy gifts like Porsches and Rolexes. LootBox displays the probability of receiving each gift, and you’re guaranteed to win something, but obviously the chances of driving away with a new M4 are low.

After you’ve purchased a case, LootBox’s provably fair RNG will work its magic, and you get to keep whatever gift it lands on. Then you have the option of having the prize shipped to your house or you can exchange it for its displayed cash value and then withdraw via crypto.

LootBox does offer free play. After you’ve completed KYC, you’ll get a daily complimentary box, and you can also grab cash, which can be used to open cases via the Rain function.

Apart from standard mystery boxes, LootBox features a few others, like Battles, a multiplayer game where you compete against other players to see who can open the most valuable cases. There’s also Upgrader, where you select a potential prize, pick a stake, and then spin a wheel in a bid to win it.

LootBox doesn’t offer a no deposit bonus, and I wasn’t offered any first purchase deal, which, frankly, was a major letdown. But don’t despair just yet because there’s 40% rakeback, a daily free case up for grabs, and a reload deal if your VIP level suffices.

LootBox doesn’t have as many rewards as some of the other mystery box platforms I’ve used, but if you’re a big spender, then the VIP program offers some tempting rewards. These are all of the ways to crack open extra cases:

• $5,000 Weekly Leaderboard – Spend as much as you can and out-open your fellow LootBox players for a shot at cash. You’ll need to crack the top 50 to win a prize. Last week a $1,405 spend earned you a top 50 spot and $4, while if you wanted to win the whole thing and make off with $2,500, you needed to open $38,244 worth of boxes!
• Daily Login – LootBox gives you at least one free box to open daily. The value and number of the boxes depend on your VIP level.
• Rakeback – LootBox is dishing out rakeback every day of the week, and you get up to 40% of the house edge back. It doesn’t matter if you crack open a case and you bag a Ferrari or are left with a worthless paperclip, you’re still entitled to a percentage of the rake.
• Rain – After you’ve verified your account, open the group chat and claim a slice of the cash that LootBox adds to the communal pool. If some generous players are active, they’ll also throw some extra money into the pot. You can claim cash every 10 minutes.
• VIP – LootBox’s 10-tier VIP program is definitely worth your attention. As you spend more cash opening cases, it rolls out the red carpet as the site hands you bigger daily free boxes, weekly and monthly cash prizes, daily reload boosts, and special rakeback. You must be at least $2 to join and become a Bronze player.

3.4 How to Claim the Welcome Bonus

Unfortunately, LootBox doesn’t offer a welcome bonus, but to pick your daily free case, you need to:

1. Open LootBox.com and tap the Register button in the top left-hand corner.
2. Type in your username, email, and password and agree to the site’s terms and conditions.
3. Hit the green plus sign, select your banking method and deposit at least $2
4. Spend $2+ on cases (you’ll automatically become a Bronze VIP player)
5. Go to the Rewards section and you’ll find your daily free case

4. Boxes, Prizes and Fairness

LootBox doesn’t explicitly reveal the RTP of its boxes. However, they do display the probability of winning each prize and its value, so armed with that information I crunched the numbers and found the average RTP to be 88%.

If you’ve got too much spare time on your hands, you can check the house edge yourself. What you do is multiply the probability of winning each prize by its value and add up all of the figures to calculate EV. Then you divide EV by the purchase price. So for the Apple case, the EV is $30.30, and the purchase price is $34.44, resulting in a 12% house edge.

So even though the RTP is lower than your typical slot, it’s still much higher than keno, bingo, and other lottery games where you’re often staring down 20% to 30% edges.

Also, unlike at a lot of mystery box sites, you don’t have to worry about rigged outcomes. LootBox powers all of its cases with a provably fair RNG. You can personally confirm that the results haven’t been tampered with by grabbing the server seed, client seed, and nonce after every round.

4.1 Cases

Lootbox is locked and loaded with over 250 cases. You can get in on the action for just $0.09, but if you want a BMW or Birkin, you’ll need to spend up to $6,700. The prizes are incredibly diverse, with Yeezys next to Nintendo Switches. Apart from IRL prizes, LootBox also features CS2 mystery boxes. The current top prize is a Bentley with a displayed value of $300,000.

4.2 Battles

If you ever get bored opening boxes by yourself, then head to the Battle section, where you can create your own competitions. How they work is you and an opponent buy and open the same boxes, and whoever opens the most valuable total items scoops all of the prizes.

I love that you can select all of the 250+ cases and also create different types of battles from classic 1v1s to 2v2s and even 3v3s. Currently you can add up to 100 different cases to a single battle!

4.3 Upgrader

After I opened up dozens of cases, I popped over to the Upgrades section to see what was happening. Instead of opening boxes, you select a single item, enter your stake, and LootBox tells you your chance of winning it. You then spin a wheel, and if you land on the prize, it’s yours!

For example, you can pick a Ferrari Portofino worth $273,000 and risk $1, giving you a 0.00032% chance of winning, or spend $270,000 and increase your odds to 86.96%.

6. Player Experience

LootBox is great if you want to get straight down to business. The sign up process requires just your email, and then you can immediately deposit via crypto and start hunting for prizes. Also, if you can’t stand KYC, then you’ll be pleased to know that typically if you’re redeeming via crypto, LootBox will leave you alone and won’t violate your privacy.

In terms of using the site, I’ve got only positive things to say. LootBox keeps it stupid simple with the different types of games at the top of the screen as well as a top-up and redeem button. I think it’s cool that you can filter games based on risk and price, and you get a glimpse into what the potential prizes are based on the case’s thumbnail.

7. Responsible Play and Safety

I know mystery boxes technically don’t count as gambling, but opening them still involves spending real money and can lead to unhealthy spending habits.

So I was disappointed that LootBox doesn’t have any responsible gaming tools, not even purchase limits or the option to self-exclude. I found just one line on the whole site encouraging users to set limits themselves.

Despite the lack of responsible gaming tools, I still wouldn’t classify LootBox as unsafe or shady. The site does conduct random KYC checks, allows you to enable 2FA, and uses state-of-the-art cryptography, including SHA256 and SHA512, to ensure game results are fair.

8. Customer Support

LootBox’s customer support is a bit hit and miss. There’s a fairly empty FAQ, which malfunctioned when I tried to use the search feature. You can also contact the site via email (support@lootbox.com), but don’t hold your breath for a reply.

The best way to get problems solved is via live chat. However, reply times vary greatly. The first time I reached out, everything went smoothly, but the second time it took over 15 minutes to connect with an agent, and then the agent took forever to answer a basic question.

I thought LootBox offered some serious prizes until I popped over to Cases.gg, where you can win up to $1 million from a single mystery box. Also, the site theme is identical to LootBox, so you’ll feel right at home.

Just because LootBox doesn’t offer a welcome bonus doesn’t mean other sites don’t. When I registered at Royale.gg, three glistening mystery boxes were ready and waiting for me!

LootBox’s $5k weekly leaderboard is nothing to sneeze at, but HypeDrop is taking things to new heights with a $4k daily race right alongside a mega $25k weekly event.

There are few downsides, like no welcome bonus and crypto-only payouts, but with so much to like, I’m still giving LootBox 72/100!
